Calling for Submissions: Patchwork #3 (Fall 2025) Theme: Rites of Passage

Patchwork is a quarterly zine housed within Invisible Thread Events, an initiative dedicated to cultivating community through safer, intimate spaces that empower creatives.

Each issue of Patchwork is hyper-local and seasonally reflective, centered around a specific theme.

This fall’s theme, Rites of Passage, invites you to explore major life transitions—moments that mark a before and after.

Merriam-Webster defines a rite of passage as “a ritual, event, or experience that marks or constitutes a major milestone or change in a person’s life.”

From birth to death, and everything in between, these turning points can be ceremonial or quiet, communal or deeply personal. We want to hear about yours.

Submit any scanner-friendly medium, including (but not limited to):
• Personal essay or prose
• Poem or lyric
• Collage, illustration, comic, or photograph
• DIY project
• Interview
• Music or movement shared via QR code

Layout is done by me with care, weaving your piece into a visual patchwork alongside others. Flexible dimensions help—thank you for being open to that.
We print in color but are limited in how many color pages we can include.

Contributions due: September 1st
Email to: [email protected]

Zine release party: September 27th

Contributors receive a small payment, shared royalties, and their own copies free of charge.
While this isn’t full compensation for your time and skills, it’s a heartfelt token of thanks.
